Art in the Upper Grades focuses on the students prior knowledge of art making and broadens their understanding as to why art is being made. We use real world artist to discuss Art History along with our art making process.

 

 

 

In the Upper Grades, (4th-8th )  we enhance our prior art making skills while also adding Art History to our lessons. Students gain skills of

• Students practice drawing in proportion.

• Students learn how to draw distance by using perspective.

• Students enhance their draw skills by adding value, texture and contrast.

• Students develop their understanding of famous artists and art making processes by viewing power point presentations. Student are testes on this knowledge by in class quizzes.

• Students learn how to use more advanced art mediums clay, acrylic paints, oil pastels, etc.
